Juice 126 is the UK’s original metallic abstract aerosol artist, founder member of Ikonoklast and one third of the Reptiles. Born and based in Birmingham, this is his first solo show in his home city, after exhibiting nationally and internationally throughout his 28 year long career. It is a real coup to have him exhibit at Jibbering.
Recognised as a pioneer in the aerosol and graffiti art form, he was responsible for curating the Blueprint gallery aka the Selly Oak graffiti wall. Juice 126 has also curated a series of ground breaking live painting and gallery shows in the early 1990′s, from the “400ML” show featuring Mode 2, Jon 156, A – One and Stormie to the “Graffiti Bastards” and “Seven Deadly Venom’s” which featured Roughe, Chu and Part2ism to name but a few. He continues to paint and curate exhibitions including the seminal “Wildstyle For Architectural Space Show” which looked at the relationship between aerosol art and architecture, and “Prologue” which is an ongoing series of shows at the Nancy Victor gallery
FACES OF GOOD AND EVIL, SLICES OF LIGHT AND DARK is his exploration of the aerosol can, with works in a sculptural and glass medium. Juice 126’s work escapes the typographical logo and character ID’s common to the graffiti and aerosol art, instead exploring aerosol paint through colour and texture using his techniques of distortion and demolition to describe emotion through colour.
